Incubation :: Infrastructural FacilitiesThe infrastructural facilities available to physical and virtualincubatees within the NID premises on payment include access to: Knowledge Management CenterThe Knowledge Management Center, the new age format of an integrated approach to managing library, research centre, digital services all in a seamlessly integrated manner envisaging a central role in the educational activities at NID. This Center has a focused collection of books, audiovisual materials on design and its related fields. Labs and StudiosNID offers professional education programs at Undergraduate and Post Graduate level with five faculty streams and 17 diverse design domains in the areas of Industrial, Communication, Textile, and I.T. Integrated (Experiential) Design. The studio, workshop and labs become a bridge to learning and realising the design ideas. The incubatees have access to the following labs/studios and workshops:
Design Vision CentreThe Design Vision Centre (DVC) at NID was set up to empower design professionals to visualise and realise faster and better in real life environments, to make design solutions user friendly with high success rate in the market. The DVC is a cutting edge design support facility for education, research and consultancy services with three hi-tech labs.High Performance Visualisation Lab(HPV Lab) equipped with Silicon Graphic Systems (SGI) Onyx 350 Super Computer which provides real time experience to the viewers. NID Autodesk Center of ExcellenceThis center offers 35 licenses of 5 design softwares for the community in the domains of automobile, production design, film and animation.PACE LabIt the initiative of General Motors, USA and their partners to provide advance learning in the area of automobile design among the educational institutes across the world. It has more than 18 high end work stations and 2 large printers with powerful design softwares. Rapid Product Development Lab(RPD Lab) has physical prototyping facilities including Rapid Prototyping (RP) machine from Z-Corporation USA . The RP machine prints the computer images in 3D form using special powder and liquid. These images are constructed in 3D as a physical prototype on which various finishes, colours and textures can be applied for eliciting real life response from users. Laser cuttingLaser cutting on 6mm sheets of wood, paper and acrylic etc. can be made through a standard PC. 3D laser scanningHighly productive for reverse engineering Design Research ChairsDesign Research Chairs which include Autodesk Design Education Innovation Chair, John Bissell Design Research Chair for Textile and Apparel Design and Technology Fusion, Ravi J Matthai Design Research Chair for Design Innovation for Enriching School Education, Craft Sectors and Design Research, OP Jindal Design Research Chair for Stainless Steel Product Innovation and Development, Jamshedji Tata Design Research Chair for Universal Design at NID offer suitable processes, technology and mentoring services to the incubatees as well. |
