Design Idea Fair 2006 (DIF 06)

DIF06 was the first of its kind where innovative design-led ideas, concepts, and services from a vast array of disciples at NID such as Product Design, Ceramic Design, Textile Design, Communication Design, and Furniture Design were displayed. The Fair was inaugurated on 2nd December 2006  at 7.30 pm by Dr. Ajay Dua, IAS Secretary, DIPP, GOI and the then Chairman of NID Governing Council. Open to invitees from design-led entrepreneurs, small industrial houses and investors keen to commercialize innovative design-led ideas, at Jacaranda Hall, India Habitat Center, New Delhi, till 3rd December 2006 the Fair was a big draw. Officials from the Department of Science & Technology, ICSID Board Members and representatives from industry were among the dignitaries who visited the Fair. Prominent among the innovative entries displayed  at DIF06 were:

1. Thermo electric cooler for life saving drugs and vaccines
2. Mini Mobile phone
3. Face Mask and arm gloves created from nanotech fabrics designed by students
4. Angora wool based High Altitude clothing
5. Moonlight
6. Needle for visually challenged
7. Smart jewellery
8. Braille Slate
9. Injection Guide
10. Medicine Bottle Opener, etc.
